HUA HIN
THE PARADISE CITY OF THAILAND
Hua Hin was transformed from a fishing village to a royal resort during the reign of King Rama VI (1910-1925), as a getaway from the busy metropolis of Bangkok, which resulted in the construction of the Hua Hin railway station in the early 1920’s. This was then followed by the construction of the Klai Kangwon Palace (Far From Worries) by King Rama VII in 1926. The palace remains, to this day, an official royal residence, which gave Hua Hin its unique identity. Despite being Thailand’s oldest beach resort, Hua Hin has remained relatively low profile, slowly building itself into the preferred destination for laid-back holiday makers, travelers and wealthy Thais. A colonial-style railway hotel was built in Hua Hin in 1923 by the State Railway Authority. In 1924, Thailand’s first golf course was opened - The Royal Hua Hin. There are now 7 world-class golf courses within 30km of the town and more are under construction. Hua Hin provides the highest density of world-class golf courses anywhere in Thailand. Green-fees and other costs are very competitive. Hua Hin’s surrounding areas provide you with natural resources like the incredible azure ocean, stunning beaches, outstanding national parks, jungle-clad mountains, forests, waterfalls, caves and a plethora of flora and fauna. Hua Hin truly offers a laid back and friendly atmosphere. Good infrastructure, for example, roads, water and sewerage are all in place, with health clinics, hospitals, pharmacies and international schools freely available. There are also fine sea food restaurants, supermarkets and international delis to meet your daily needs for groceries with a large selection of western items. Being the Royal beach resort, cabarets, discos and other night entertainments are abundant but carefully observed. The Hua Hin Market Village opened last year. This is a huge complex hosting a Tesco Lotus Superstore, a HomePro, the 3rd Major Cineplex in Thailand and a bowling center, amongst many other conveniences such as world-famous restaurants and clothing stores. All these developments further enhance Hua Hin’s ever-burgeoning popularity. Hua Hin is located about 200km south of Bangkok on the west coast of the Gulf of Thailand. At present, it takes between two to three hours to reach Hua Hin by car from Bangkok, depending on the traffic. A 92-kilometre motorway, which is almost complete, will cut the driving time by one hour, giving both Bangkok residents and international travelers an easier commute. Hua Hin is also accessible by train and by air from Bangkok. Your local travel agent can get you departure and arrival details. Tropical Hua Hin: a true paradise destination: perfect for families, retirees or anybody looking for relaxation and refined living in spectacular surroundings.
